Amy Khoja
Founder and Director
Ms. Amy is a dedicated founder of Wild Rose Montessori Preschool, whose educational journey began at San Francisco State University. Her passion for early childhood education was ignited through an internship at the campus Child Study Center serving preschool children. Upon graduating she got a job at a Montessori school in Alameda, CA. After earning her AMS teaching credential and serving as a head teacher, Ms. Amy expanded her Montessori expertise working with toddlers in Oakland and later earned an Ed.M. in Montessori Education. Relocating to Sacramento in 2015, she immersed her daughter in Montessori education. She also contributed her skills by working at an AMI school where she first met Ms. Lucy. In 2018, Ms. Amy opened her first in-home Montessori school which grew rapidly; however, the pandemic forced the closure of her school in 2020. This led Ms. Amy to pursue an AMI primary teaching credential, during which she reconnected with Ms. Lucy, a like-minded educator. Together, they founded Wild Rose Montessori Preschool, realizing their shared vision of fostering a nurturing environment that inspires a lifelong love of learning. -
Lucy Cruz
Founder and Director
Ms. Lucy considers herself fortunate to have discovered her passion at a young age, realizing her desire to become a teacher while growing up in a family of seven. From her early years, all she could dream of was becoming an ordinary public school teacher. After marrying her best friend and relocating to Sacramento, she gained experience in various public schools. Although she cherished being around children, she found the traditional teaching method unsatisfying. As she continued to explore and search for better options, Ms. Lucy stumbled upon a transformative educational philosophy while working in a Montessori School. The meticulously ordered and prepared environments provided an ideal backdrop for learning. She deeply valued the peaceful and respectful interactions with the children, which are fundamental aspects of Montessori training. These spaces are designed to be child-centered, fostering hands-on learning experiences, and the materials go beyond being mere educational tools. In this environment, Ms. Lucy found herself able to dedicate time to each child, ensuring mastery of a skill before moving on, while also catering to the needs of accelerated learners. Montessori education has not only opened doors for her but has also created opportunities for every child who walks through their doors to discover their full potential. After about a decade of working with children and finding her niche in a Montessori environment, she knew this would be a part of her for the rest of her career. Earning an AMI Diploma in July 2022, it represents a significant milestone in her professional development, as she continues to learn and grow in Montessori philosophy.
